Mrs. C. C. Doolittle Dead
She Drops Dead While Visiting Her Daughter at BrittMrs. C. C. Doolittle [Melissa Coon Doolittle], who has been visiting for the past month at Britt, with her daughter, Mrs. Dr. Groom, dropped dead last evening about 6 o’clock, of heart trouble. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made, although the remains will be brought to this city Friday or Saturday and funeral services held here.
The deceased was one of the best known residents of Estherville, and her death come as a personal loss to a large circle. With her family she came here from Garner twelve years ago, where they had lived for about twenty years previous to that time. She was 69 years of age, and is survived by her husband and five children, Mrs. Dr. Groom of Britt, Miss Edith Doolittle of Denver, Mrs. Roy J. Ridley and Harry H. Doolittle and I. C. Doolittle of this city. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 22, 1903)
The remains of Mrs. C. C. Doolittle were brought here Friday afternoon from Britt and the funeral held from the family home on the west side Saturday afternoon. Interment was made in the Oak Hill Cemetery. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, April 29, 1903)
