Mrs. G. A. Brisbin, Obituary
Katherine Serroway was born in Plymouth, Iowa, November 10, 1868 and passed away at Estherville, Ia., Tuesday morning, December 20, 1921,at the age of 53 years, one month and ten days. Death was due to a complication of heart trouble and Bright’s disease.Practically all her life had been spent in and around her native home and state. Twenty-six years ago she was united in marriage to George A. Brisbin to which union were born three children Elmer, 25, George 19, and a son who died in infancy.
For a short while soon after her marriage her home was in Watertown, South Dakota, but about twenty-five years ago with the family she moved to Estherville and has since made her home here. She is well known throughout the community as a woman of great human kindness, sympathy and understanding. And friends and neighbors in the city feel very keenly her parting from this life.
During the long, weary months of her declining health she had been a patient sufferer, and came to the end of the way in the same beautiful spirit in which she had lived.
“Jesus, while our hearts are bleeding
O’er the spoils that death has won,
We would at this solemn moment
Calmly say, “Thy will be done.”
“By thy hands the boon was given,
Thou hast taken but thine own;
Lord of Earth and God and Heaven.
Evermore ‘Thy will be done,”Funeral services will be held from the Methodist Episcopal church on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 22, at 2:30 o’clock, with the Rev. J. W. LaGrone, pastor of the church in charge and with Rev. J. E. Rice of the Free Methodist church assisting. Interment will be made in the Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Brisbin is survived by her husband and two sons; father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Wise of Manly, Iowa; and four sisters, Mrs. George Huhn and Mrs. A. H. Cobeon of Manly, Iowa; Mrs. George Henderson of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. H. J. Guth of Golden, Colo. Besides these there are a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her going, and who sympathize deeply with the family in their great loss.
