G. Brisbin Passed Away
Funeral Services Held Mon. Afternoon – Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery
George Allen Brisbin, 76, passed away at the Emmet County farm Friday [October 17, 1941] after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Sternborg Funeral home, with the Rev. G. E. Forrsell, of the Baptist church officiating. Burial was in the family lot at the Oak Hill cemetery.

Mr. Brisbin has been a resident of this city for a number of years. He was employed on the Rock Island railroad until the time of the strike in 1922 when he went to Hammond, Ind., and was employed there for several years. Returning to Estherville he was employed on various farms in this community. Mr. Brisbin was born in Monticello, Iowa, on December 18, 1865. In 1907 [1895] he was united in marriage with Miss Kate Seray [Serroway] and shortly after their marriage they moved to Estherville to make their home. Two sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brisbin, Elmer Brisbin, of Gillette, Ill., who survives his father and George Brisbin, who passed away a few years ago, Mrs. Brisbin passed away in 1922 [1921].

Mr. Brisbin was a man who was very popular with all his friends. He had a jovial disposition and a friendly nature that made him a friend of all, both young and old. He was a conscientious worker and had the interests of his employer uppermost in his mind at all times. When he suffered a financial reverse he gave up his home in Estherville and went to the Emmet County farm where he was cared for in his declining years.

Besides his son he is survived by a brother, Henry Brisbin, and a sister, Jessie Brisbin, both of Spencer. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 21, 1941)
