Dr. W. E. Bradley Pioneer Passed Away Saturday, Feb. 12th
Dr. W. E. Bradley, one of Emmet county’s most highly respected physicians and citizens, passed away at his home on North Sixth street last Saturday morning at three o’clock. He had been in poor health for several months and of late he was in a very serious condition, but it was not thought he was so critically ill.
He gave up his office in the Groves block about a month ago and moved into a new home last fall. He received his patients at his home for some time, treating those whom, as a family physician for many years he had given his medical attention.
Dr. Bradley was a quiet unassuming man, beloved by all. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. During the many years of his professional career here, he enjoyed a fine practice and the friendship of a loving public.
Dr. Bradley was born in La Crosse, Wis., on February 14, 1865. he was educated in the schools of that city and when a young man he left the farm, where he had lived with his parents, and entered the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He graduated there in 1890 and entered the Rush Medical College in Chicago, where he received his degree two years later.
He had relatives in Estherville and deciding this was a promising place to commence the practice of his profession, came here from Chicago after his graduation.
In 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Eva Robinson, a daughter of one of our pioneer families.
He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, and a son, William of Detroit, Mich., and a daughter, Mrs. Duane Hause of East Lansing, Mich.
Funeral services were hold from the home on Monday at two o’clock and from the Presbyterian church, of which he was a member and a director, at 2:30, the Rev. Claude Fausnaugh officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 17, 1938)
Duane Hause left here Tuesday to return to East Lansing, Mich. Mrs. Hause will remain in Estherville for a couple of weeks, visiting her mother, Mrs. W. E. Bradley. Mr. and Mrs. William Bradley of Detroit, Mich., are also spending two weeks here. Mrs. Edwin Palmer, as sister of the late Dr. Bradley, was here for the funeral services. She lives at Williston, N.D.
