Butler Dies After Illness
Wayne Oran Butler, 67, a retired farmer, died shortly after midnight today at Holy Family Hospital. He had been in failing health for one and one-half years, and death was attributed to Hodgkin’s disease.Mr. Butler was born Dec. 30, 1898, in Blackhawk County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Butler. As a child, he moved with his parents to Pipestone, Minn., and to Canada before coming to Emmet County in 1904.
He received his education in Emmet County schools.
He lived on a farm south of Wallingford for a number of years before moving to a farm near Raleigh, where he lived until coming to his present farm home east of Estherville 28 years ago. He had been operating the farm with his brother, Ralph.
Mr. Butler was a past member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include two brothers, Ralph and Phillip of Estherville; and one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Mabel) Whiteford of Windom, Minn.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home, Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Saturday until time of the final rites. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 29, 1966)
