Peter Zerke Passes Away After a Long Illness
Peter Zerke, 47, died Friday, February 6, at a hospital in Estherville, after an illness of several months. He was born at Nichols, Iowa, December 19, 1883. He came to Emmet county in 1896 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Zerke. He was confirmed by Rev. Enslelt at Spirit Lake in April, 1900, and his life, the greater part of which he spent with his parents, was marked by a quiet and unassuming Christian character.Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, John and Herman Zerke and five sisters, Mrs. Albert Heimann, Mrs. Fred Zitterich, Mrs. Earl Studer of Waterville, Minn.; Mrs. Will Spoo and Mrs. John Spoo. One sister, Helenna, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Estherville Lutheran church with Rev. Otis Lang of Immanuel Lutheran church in charge. Burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 18, 1931)
