Obituary of Lee A. Wanamaker
Lee A. Wanamaker was born May 15th, 1859 at Pottsville, Wis., and died at his home in Worthington, Minn., on Sept 16, 1932, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 1 day.

While yet a young boy he with his parents, moved to Plainfield, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He then moved to Estherville, Ia., where he lived for some years. He then moved to Nobles county, Minn., where he lived on a farm for three years before moving to Worthington, where he has since resided.

On Oct. 4, 1879, he was married to Miss Celia A. Logan of Plainfield. To this union were born three children, Lewis C. Wanamaker and Mrs. Mae Jeffries of Estherville, Ia., and Glen L. Wanamaker of Mason City, Ia., all of whom were present at the funeral. His wife died in 1908 and in 1910 he was married to Cora Swenson of Estherville.

Besides his wife and three children, he is survived by four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Etta Kelly of Plainfield, Ia.

Mr. Wanamaker became a Christian early in life and his whole life was devoted to the service of Jesus. He became a church member in each community in which he lived, and used his influence, his substance and his life in behalf of Christ’s cause. Mr. Wanamaker was not only loved by the church people but he was held in high esteem by the city and community.

The funeral was held at the Christian church in Worthington Sunday, Sept. 18, and burial was at Estherville. (The Nashua Reporter, Nashua, IA, September 28, 1932)

L. A. Wanamaker, Early Resident, Passes Friday

L. A. Wanamaker, 74, an early resident of Estherville and the father of Lou Wanamaker and Mrs. Mae Jeffries of this city died early Friday morning at his home in Worthington. Mr. Wanamaker was a sufferer from heart disease and had suffered two strokes recently. For several weeks he has been in a state of coma. The deceased man had been a resident of Worthington for 20 years.

Surviving Mr. Wanamaker are his widow and three children Lou Wanamaker and Mrs. Jeffries of Estherville and Glenn Wanamaker of Mason City.

Funeral services were held at Worthington Sunday and interment made in Estherville Sunday afternoon.

Out of town relatives at Worthington and Estherville to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wanamaker and children Donald and Betty Lou, of Mason City, Mrs. Etta Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Roach, E. A. Roach, son and daughter and Mrs. Gerald Howrey of Plainfield. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 20, 1932)
