The sad news of the death of Mrs. Orin Walker [Mary Johnson] formerly of this place but for some time a resident of Raleigh, was received Monday afternoon. Mrs. Walker died Monday [June 19, 1905] morning after a short illness and leaves behind a tiny baby, four small children [Lovina, Ralph, Olive, Jasper, Edith] and a husband. Mrs. Cal Young from Fostoria, Mrs. Dave Ketchum and Chas Johnson from Langdon, sisters and brothers of Mrs. Walker, left for Raleigh Monday morning. (Spencer Reporter, June 12, 1905)
