Ida Mott Dead
Little Miss Ida, the 12-year-old daughter [dob August 17, 1889] of Mr. and Mrs. D. Mott, died very suddenly Christmas forenoon, from heart failure. She had been ill for several weeks with diphtheria but had almost fully recovered, and the quarantine of the family was to be raised Friday of this week. Ida had been about the house for several days, apparently in good health, and her father and mother were rejoicing that she had been spared. Tuesday night, however, she had a relapse, and before noon on Christmas day the grim messenger of death had claimed her as his own.

Ida was a bright little girl, the idol of her parents and dearly beloved by her school mates. Brief funeral services were held from the residence this (Thursday) forenoon and the body laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery.

The sorrowing parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in their deep affliction. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, December 26, 1901)
