Roy W. Lucas, 62, Dies From Heart Ailment
Funeral Services to Be Held Thursday

Roy W. Lucas, 62, died yesterday morning at 6:15 as result of a heart ailment. He had worked as a railroad employee for 22 years and later with the late Charles Hawk in contractor work. For the last few years he was engaged in his own roofing business.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1884, at Estherville and had lived here all his life. He was married Dec. 25, 1906, to Hattie Eva Moy of Milford. They were the parents of three children, Mrs. Cecil Erickson of Estherville, Dwight Lucas of Minneapolis, and M-Sgt. Clarence Lucas of Monterey, Calif.

Surviving are his wife and three children, eight grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ray VanValkenburg of Estherville and for brothers, W. E. Lucas of Clear Lake, C. E. Lucas of Sioux Falls, P. W. Lucas of Goose Creek, Tex., and Bert R. Lucas of Estherville. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Sternborg funeral home and at 2:30 at the Baptist church, with the Rev. G. E. Forssell, in charge. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 5, 1947)
