Percy Lucas Dies
Percy W. Lucas, 59, Estherville native and former Rock Island brakeman here, died early yesterday in Austin, Tex. He had lived in Texas about five years, having gone there for his health. Lucas was born April 29, 1890, in Estherville and was educated in the local schools. After graduating he worked as Rock Island brakeman and about five years later moved to Minneapolis where he worked 30 years as a fireman and engineer on the Milwaukee railroad. Survivors include two brothers, Bert R. Lucas of Estherville, William Lucas of Long Beach, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Ray Van Valkenburg of Estherville and one daughter, Dorothy of Chicago. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Sternborg funeral chapel. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 29, 1949)
