John M. Kesselring, 81, passed away at his home in the north part of town, Sunday [January 5, 1941] evening after a brief illness. Mr. Kesselring was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, and came to this country when he was a young man. He was well known in this community among the older people and was especially popular with the fishermen and trappers in this part of the state. Mr. Kesselring was an ardent fisherman and a great many families in this city enjoyed tasty fish dinners because of his generosity.

Although he had been in poor health for a great many months Mr. Kesselring was able to be up and around until Saturday evening. He called Theodore Myhre to take him up town Saturday afternoon but on account of the cold weather Mr. Myhre persuaded him to wait. His condition became serious late Saturday evening and a doctor was summoned. He lapsed into unconsciousness Sunday morning and never rallied until his death Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m.

Surviving Mr. Kesselring are a brother, David in Emly City, Mich., a sister Mrs. John Wismer, Clearwater, Fla. Who had not seen each other for forty years. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Henry Kesselring, resides in London, Ontario, Canada, and has kept in communication with Mr. Kesselring through Mr. Theo. Myhre. Arrangements for the funeral and burial are being made by Mr. Myhre. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 7, 1941)
