Mrs. Hatland Dies at 92

Mrs. Mary Hatland, 92, long-time Estherville resident, died at 6:25 a.m. today at Holy Family Hospital where she had been a patient since Oct. 18 suffering from a fractured hip.

She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since February.

The former Mary Erickson was born Nov. 2, 1874, in Polk County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Erickson.

She was married to Ben Hatland Oct. 13, 1900, in Story County, where they farmed until 1904, when they moved to Emmet County and farmed in the Estherville area. They retired in 1941 and moved to Estherville.

Mr. Hatland died in 1950

Mrs. Hatland was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Hatland is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Einer (Helen) Christensen of rural Estherville, Mrs. Edna Rosma of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Fred (Laura) Ankrum of Cabool, Mo., Mrs. C. G. (Caila) Myklebust of Des Moines; two sons, Howard of Estherville and Raymond of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five of her children.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church, Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery.
