Lou Stanton Westcott Obituary
Lou Stanton Westcott, son of George and Harriet Westcott, was born October 16, 1861, in Janesville, Wisconsin, and passed away December 11, 1931, in Arlington, Nebr., at the age of seventy-nine years, one month, and twenty-five days. When he was two years of age the family moved to Estherville, Iowa. He was united in marriage February 7, 1884, to Myra Mabel Crumb. To this union three children were born: two of them died in infancy; the other, a daughter, Mabel, lives in Arlington, Nebraska. It was at her home that he passed away. In 1902 they moved to Dallas, South Dakota, where he lived the rest of his life. At the age of twenty-seven he joined the Baptist Church at Estherville. After moving to Dallas, where there is no Baptist Church, he became a member of the Presbyterian Church, and was a life Elder. He always took an active part in all church and Sunday School affairs. He was also a third degree Mason.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife; his daughter, Mrs. Roy R. Peterson; one brother, Fred Westcott of Northcote, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Ramah, Cletis, Myra, Brian, Gail, Jean and Rob Roy; besides a number of more distant relatives.
The funeral service was held December 14, 1931, at the Union Baptist Church in Estherville. The pastor spoke from the text:
“But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave; for he shall receive me.” – Psalms 49:15. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 16, 1931)
