Mrs. Harry E. Jones Passed Away At Sioux City Home
After a long illness Mrs. Harry E. Jones, formerly of this city but now of 45 Murray Hall, Sioux City, passed away last Saturday [June 1, 1940] evening in St. Vincent’s hospital.While Mrs. Jones has been in poor health for some time her immediate illness dated back about six months when she sustained a fall and later had to undergo an operation caused by the accident.
Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 27, 1895 at Spencer, Iowa. When 16 years of age she moved to Albert City. She was united in marriage at that city Aug. 22, 1911. After residing in other places Mr. and Mrs. Jones moved to Estherville in 1925.
The family left here a year ago and resided in Omaha, Neb., moving to Sioux City a month and a half ago, where Mr. Jones is an organizer for the CIO.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the M.E. church.
She leave to mourn her death her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Harley Zahrt of Spencer and Miss Vivian of Sioux City.
The remains were brought to this city for burial. There was a short service at the Christy’s funeral home, Sioux City, Monday. Tuesday there were services in the Christian church in this city at two o’clock, the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill [East Side] cemetery.
