Mrs. L. J. Bixby Died at Home in Minneapolis
Body Brought to Estherville For Burial
Funeral Services Yesterday Afternoon
Mrs. L. J. Bixby died at her home in Minneapolis Saturday. The body arrived in this city Monday afternoon and funeral services were held at the A. A. Bixby home yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Bixby had a large host of friends in this city who knew her as an earnest Christian woman. For many years previous to moving to Minneapolis she was a resident of Estherville.

Silence D. Carver was born June 22, 1864 and died July 28th, 1917, at her home in Minneapolis. On the 18th of Feb., 1889, she was married to Luman J. Bixby. They made their home in Estherville for a great many years then later moved to Minneapolis where they were living at the time of her death.

While living in Estherville, Mrs. Bixby united with the Free Baptist church of which church she was a faithful member being the president of the Ladies Aid society and an earnest worker in other departments of the church.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, three sisters, two brothers, besides several nephews and nieces and hosts of old neighbors and friends.

Mrs. O. A. Manning, of Waterloo, Iowa, and R. A. Bixby, of Clear Lake, S.Dak., were both here to attend the services which were conducted from the A. A. Bixby home on east Des Moines street, by Rev. J. Frederic Catlin, Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The body was laid to rest in the Eastside cemetery. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, August 1, 1917)
