Alfred Anderson Dies of Consumption
Early Saturday [August 15, 1908] morning Alfred Anderson, son of John A. Anderson, died in this city, of consumption, aged twenty-five years. Funeral was held from his father’s residence Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Cole, of the Methodist church, and the remains buried in the East Side cemetery by the side of his mother, who had passed to her reward about five years ago.

Alfred Anderson was a bright, energetic, and industrious young man. He was a graduate from the Estherville high school and later graduated from a business college at Des Moines in which city he obtained employment and where he contracted the disease that caused his death. He went to Canada last fall and spent the winter there with the hopes of relief. He did not improve any and in the spring went to Washington where he remained until the latter part of June and then returned home reaching here about the first of July. He gradually grew worse until Saturday when he crossed the dark river.

A father and brother are left to mourn his untimely death. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, August 19, 1908)
