Mass of Christian Burial for Lena B. Boggess, 93, of Estherville will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Jerry Cosgrove as celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel with vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville.
She died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Estherville.
Lena Bertha Schaper, the daughter of August and Wilhelmina (Lindemann) Schaper, was born Jan. 14, 1913, in Buffalo Center.
Lena moved with her family to Estherville when she was 4 years old. She received her education in the Emmet Consolidated Schools.
On May 17, 1933, she was united in marriage to Nolan R. Boggess in Estherville. Lena worked in the kitchen at both St. Patrick's Catholic School and the Good Samaritan Center. Nolan died July 14, 1995.
Lena was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Christian Family Movement and Legion of Mary.
Left to cherish Lena's memory are her nine children, Lawrence Boggess and his wife, Jan, of Colorado Springs, Colo., George Boggess and his wife, Linda, of Omaha; John Boggess of Napolean, Ohio; William Boggess of Estherville; Steven Boggess and his wife, Janeen, of Carver, Minn., Mary Sicard and her husband, Garry, of Estherville; Maureen Haisman of Vinton; Martha Haigh and her husband, Ben; and Marlene Walthart and her husband, Larry, all of Estherville; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
