A Sad Death
Miss Sadie Rhodes, whose sickness was chronicled last week passed to the other life at six o’clock last Saturday afternoon. Her disease was typhoid fever and she had been sick less than a month when she was taken away. The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon from the home of her brother, Mr. F. H. Rhodes, and the remains were interred in the cemetery west of town. Rev. Mr. Rees, of the Baptist church conducted the services. Miss Rhodes was born at Brighton, Wis., Dec. 26, 1867. She had only been a resident of Estherville seven months, yet in that short time had won hosts of friends by her modest womanly ways. Always patient, kind, large hearted and a true lady in every sense of the term, her place will be hard to fill. We are sure the relatives of the deceased have the full sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, August 8, 1889)
