Lester L. Lawrence Dead
Lester L. Lawrence, a retired grain buyer, died at 7:20 a.m. today at his home, 1438 First avenue. He was 63 years old and was born in Norfolk, Ohio. He was a resident of Cedar Rapids for ten years coming here from Estherville. Surviving him are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Grace Higginbotham of Hoover, Iowa, and three grandchildren. Mr. Lawrence was a member of the Knights Templer in Cedar Rapids and several lodges in Estherville. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the residence, conducted by the Rev. Edward H. Gelvin. The body will be taken to Estherville for additional services in charge of the members of the Masonic order. Burial will be in the Estherville cemetery. (The Evening Gazette, Cedar Rapids, IA, December 3, 1919)Word reached here this morning that L. L. Lawrence had passed away at his home in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday of heart disease.
Mr. Lawrence resided in Estherville for several years, having moved here from Armstrong, where he was in the grain business. While here he operated a grocery store.
Deceased was a comparatively young man, only a little past the prime of life.
The body will be brought to Estherville for interment.
The funeral is to be held Friday forenoon and is to be in charge of the Masons. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 3, 1919)
