Mrs. Doolittle was stricken with a heart attack the morning of her death and passed away at 2 p.m.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home on North 6th st. with Rev. G. E. Forsell of the Union Baptist church in charge. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. Pall bearers were Vance Noe, Lloyd Johnson, Wm. Dickerson, J. M. Hale, Chas. Nourse and Fred Trevett.

Although Mrs. Doolittle was born on April 5, 1876 at Sparta, Wis., she had come to Emmet county as a small child with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Barker, Maude Barker was a graduate from the Estherville high school with one of the earliest classes to complete a four year course of study. John Baker (Barker) was county auditor and treasurer of Emmet county for several terms and until taking office had operated the farm he owned south of this city.

Maude became the bride of L. C. Doolittle in 1900. They have one son, John, who with the husband survive the death of a very dearly beloved wife and mother. There are two grandchildren. An only sister, Miss Edna Barker, Passed away in November, 1938.

Mrs. Doolittle was an active worker in the affairs of her church and was a deaconess in the parish of which she was a member for 48 years. She was also a member of the D.A.R. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 5, 1939)
