Magnus Blakey, the 11 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blakey accidentally stepped on a rusty nail one week ago and slightly injured his foot. The boy was supposed to be getting along nicely and the wound healing. Wednesday morning on going to the room the boy was found to be suffering intensely with the lock-jaw. Everything is being done that is possible to alleviate the pain and save the boy. At the present writing he is resting a little easier but no perceptible change has yet taken place. A Sad Death
Magnus Blakey, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Blakey, of this city, died early Friday morning from the effects of tetanus, caused from stepping on a rusty nail which penetrated his foot. Nothing serious was thought of the wound, which quickly healed and the boy was running around apparently in good health up to Wednesday morning when he was suddenly taken with lockjaw. The parents not knowing the symptoms of this disease, immediately brought him to town and placed him in the home of his aunt, Mrs. Clump, and summoned medical aid. It was then the doctor pronounced it a severe case of lockjaw. The little fellow lingered along until four o’clock Friday morning when death relieved him of his sufferings. Deceased was eleven years of age and a bright and promising youth. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at the Methodist church conducted by the pastor Reve. G. W. Southwell, and the remains followed to their final resting place by a large concourse of sympathizing friends. The Blakey family have the heartfelt sympathy of this community in their hour of bereavement.Card of Thanks: Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Blakey wish to thank their many friends for the kindness and favors shown during the sickness and death of their beloved son, Magnus. Such kindness shall always be remembered.
