Miss L. Barber Dies; Is Buried On Wednesday
Miss Libbie Estella Barber, a pioneer of Emmet county, died Sunday. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Baptist church, the Rev. F. Yearnd, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were D. C. Wells, Carl Carlson, I. J. Robinson, Charles Werling, Martin Bromley, and Roy Ridley.
Miss Barber was born at Delavan, Wis., May 24, 1858. She moved with her parents and one sister, Mrs. William Luckart [Luikart], in the fall of 1862 to Emmet Township in Emmet county. The family moved with other families into what was then known as the “George Jenkins Farm” in Emmet Grove. The old house where this family lived is still standing.
The family lived on two different farms in Emmet township until the death of her father on June 7, 1918. Then Miss Barber moved to Estherville to live with her sister, Mrs. C. H. Koehler, until the time of her death.
Miss Barber’s death is mourned by two brothers, two sisters, three nieces, five nephews, and two uncles besides other relatives in several other places.
