Mrs. Ann Archer Dead
Mrs. Ann Archer died at her home in this city, Friday, at about 12:30 o’clock after a short illness. Mrs. Archer was in unusually good health up to about nine o’clock Thursday evening. Some of the neighbors were in to spend the evening and she was able to be up and visited with them up to about the above hour. Shortly after she was taken ill and her daughter, Miss Lizzie, who was visiting at the home of Mr. John Ammon on the west side was sent for. She seemed to be failing and at 12:30 o’clock on Friday she passed away.

Mrs. Archer was one of the noble women of the world. She had been a resident of this county since 1880, when she moved here with her son, M. L. Archer, and has made her home here since.

Ann Lee Trent was born in South Glastonburg, Conn., Dec. 4th, 1827. She moved to Quincy, Ill., with her parents when ten years old. On Dec. 24th 1851 she was married to John Archer in that city. Four children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy, and her son, M. L. Archer, died in this city Nov. 12th last year. Her only surviving child, Miss Lizzie Archer, makes her home in this city. Mrs. Archer was a sister of Mrs. John Ammon who died during the past year and was married on the same day to Mr. Archer her sister was married to Mr. John Ammon. (The Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 14, 1906)

Mrs. A. L. Archer, mother of the late M. L. Archer, died at her home in this city last Friday, in her seventy-ninth year. Mrs. Archer’s maiden name was Anna Lee Trent and she was born at Glastonbury, Connecticut, December 4, 1827. Ten years later she came with her parents to Quincy, Illinois, where she was married December 24, 1851, to John Archer, who died in 1867. She was the mother of four children, of whom only one, Miss Lizzie Archer of this city, survives. The funeral services were held at the residence at three o’clock Sunday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. Edward Campbell of the Presbyterian church. The remains were interred in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 14, 1906)

Anne Trent was born in Connecticut in 1827 and at Quincy, Ill, on Dec. 24, 1851, was united in marriage with John Archer. To this union a family of three children were born, Matt L., who died in November last of typhoid fever, Miss Lizzie Archer, and a son, Charles, who was drowned in the Mississippi river at Warsaw in 1880. Mrs. Archer with her son and daughter came to Estherville in 1879 and ever since made her home here. Her home was on the west side and near to that of her sister the late Mrs. Ammon and it is said that during all the intervening years, Mrs. Archer and Mrs. Ammon were inseparable companions. She was a decidedly homeloving woman, it was there that she found life the sweetest and nearest to nature’s heart, planning and accomplishing for the happiness of her children. She was a truly Christian character and her life one long and willing round of duty. The husband who was a Mexican war veteran died when her children were of tender age in 1861 or 1862. Before coming to Estherville they had made their home in Decorah for a few years. (The Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, February 14, 1906)
