Robert Ridley Passes Away
Brave Little Fellow has been Battling for Life for Over a Year Now.
Robert Ridley, the ten year old son of R. J. and Mrs. Lydia Ridley, died early Saturday morning. He had been sick since early in the fall, but had not suffered very much until the last week of his life. During his long illness he had been very cheerful and had often talked of the things he was going to do when summer came. Robert with his happy disposition had hosts of friends both in school, in Sunday school and in the entire town. Every body loved him and he had an exceptionally happy disposition. He passed his tenth birthday the 26th of January. [dob – January 26 1907] But man proposes and God disposes and little Robert was called to his eternal reward after a short life. The funeral services were held in the home at 2:00 p.m. Monday being conducted by Rev. J. Frederic Catlin of the Union Baptist church of which church the family are members. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Cox, W. W. Pickering and Mrs. George Letchford sang very sweetly. The floral offerings were extra large and beautiful showing the love and esteem Robert was held in by his great hosts of friends. The little body was laid to rest in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Ridley and family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad loss.
