Funeral Today For J. R. Schmidt

Funeral services for J. Richard Schmidt, 72, a former Ringsted resident, were held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ringsted with the Rev. Harold L. Andersen officiating. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted.

Schmidt died Thursday, Feb. 10, 1972, from a heart attack.

He was born Sept. 9, 1899, at Ringsted to Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Regine Schmidt. He received his education at Ringsted.

He was married to Vera Dye at Chicago, Ill.

They farmed in the Ringsted area from 1928 to 1937 and then moved to Maywood, Ill., and operated a restaurant until his death.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife, Vera, Maywood, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Madsen, Illinois; and Mrs. Dean (Kay) McGowen, Streamwood, Ill.; seven grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Trine Pond.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Ringsted was in charge.
