TWO WELL KNOWN LOCAL PEOPLE PASS TO REWARD
Mrs. E. E. Crumb and S. B. Cole Die Saturday at Hospitals
S. Bedford Cole, a resident of Estherville since 1905, passed away at a local hospital, Saturday following an emergency operation. Mr. Cole was 71 years of age, born January 20, 1860, in Irenton, Iowa and had lived in the state almost his entire life. He was married on January 24, 1896 to Miss Ethel Maxwell at Spencer. Mr. Cole farmed during his first years of residence here and later was employed by the Rock Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Cole reared four children, Miss Helen Cole of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Mrs. Avis Nauss of Estherville, Archie Cole of Wabeno, Wis., and Miss Ruth Cole at home. The children were all present for the funeral servces but because of the brief duration of Mr. Cole's last illness Miss Helen and Archie did not arrive until after his passing.
Mr. Cole has been through all the years a faithful member of the Presbyterian church. He was kindly and affectionate with his family and a considerate neighbor, a good citizen. He will be missed by hundreds of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church and interment made in Oak Hill cemetery.
