All were shocked and pained to learn of the death of Warren Barber, which occurred at 2 p.m. Tuesday, although his recent sickness was pronounced almost necessarily fatal from the first, he had borne much intense suffering and when the summons came he met death with accustomed bravery. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church the room literally filled with plants and flowers and the casket covered with wreaths and garlands of wild flowers. Rev. Mr. Woodford preached the sermon which was full of pathos and tenderness and comfort to the afflicted. The remains were interred in the west side cemetery.

Warren Barber was born in Rhode Island, August 1850, and moved with his parents when a child to Wisconsin, hence to Iowa, settling in Emmet township about 28 years ago. He was married to Miss Frankie Watkins at Estherville in 1877 who has been his faithful companion through life and who with one little daughter survives him.

Some years ago the deceased was afflicted with rheumatism which left him a cripple for life, yet he bore his affliction patiently and resignedly. In this great sorrow we are confident the bereaved ones have the deepest sympathy of their many friends.
