DR. E. W. BACHMAN PASSES AWAY UNEXPECTEDLY AT ROCHESTER
WENT TO THAT CITY ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON TO BE WITH HIS WIFE WHO IS IN HOSPITAL THERE
Was Prominent Here and Had Been Senator of 47th District for Eight Years
Dr. E. W. Bachman has passed to his reward. A telegram came this morning to his daughter, Mrs. J. E. Stockdale, of this city, conveying the sad intelligence of his death at eight o'clock this morning, at Rochester, Minnesota, where he was visiting his wife, who was in the hospital. He had left here Tuesday morning for Rochester, and had reached his destination all right, but soon after, it seems he had a recurrence of his old ailment, heart trouble, and death came to relieve his suffering. His son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Stockdale, immediately left by auto for Rochester and will accompany body back to Estherville tomorrow, (Thursday). Arrangements have not been made for the funeral but it is believed it will be held Saturday.
Dr. Bachman has resided in Estherville for twenty-four years, having moved here from West Bend, where he had practiced his profession for sixteen years. He was elected state senator from the forty-seventh district while in West Bend and served his constituency with marked distinction for eight years. He was a member of Esdraelon Commandery No. 52, K. T. and of all the other Masonic organizations of this city.
Since coming to Estherville he has practiced his profession and with great success.
Dr. Bachman was one of Estherville’s most beloved citizens. He was public spirited, tender hearted, a real man in every sense of the word. The world was the better for him being a part of it. His years of usefulness extended over a long period and although he had passed the sixty-ninth mile stone he was still at his post of duty and ready at all times to administer to the ill and afflicted.
There are left to mourn his death, his wife, two daughters, Mrs. J. E. Stockdale of Estherville, and Mrs. Clarence Ladd, of Minneapolis; a sister, Mrs. Appleman of Eugene, Ore.
