Rites of R.S. Clark To Be Held Thursday

Funeral services for Robert S. Clark, longtime resident of Estherville, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Clark home. The Rev. C.J. Semans will officiate and burial will be at Oakhill cemetery.

Mr. Clark, 77, died yesterday at 1:45 p.m. at his home on North Sixth street. His death was caused from a cerebral hemorrhage. His family was at his bedside at the time.

He spent his entire life in Emmet county. Mr. Clark was born in a log cabin near the Clark farm home May 3, 1870. He retired from active farming 20 years ago and moved to his present home where he has lived since.

Mr. Clark was married to Mary Eunice Jones June 15, 1893, at the home of Mrs. Clark’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Jones, in Estherville. He took a keen interest in state and national affairs and served Emmet county as state representative from 1925 to 1927.

Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Clark celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Clark is survived by his widow, a daughter; Margaret, who teaches in Estherville high school’ a son, William, of the firm of Schultz and Clark; and two grandchildren, Mrs. W.C. Dunlavey (the former Lois Clark) and Kathryn Clark, all of Estherville. His only sister, Mrs. Charles Carpenter, preceded him in death in 1945.
