Mrs. Carl Heggen Of Ellsworth Township Dies

Mrs. Carl Heggen, 56, died Sunday morning at her home in Ellsworth township after a lingering illness of several months.

Serena Hanson Heggen was born April 21, 1889, in Ellsworth township and attended rural schools there. Later they moved, to Hudson, S. D., and she was graduated from the Canton grammar schools. She took nurse's training in Chicago. She was married to Carl Heggen in October 1912, at Canton, S. D. She has lived in Emmet county since her marriage. Mrs. Heggen was a member of the Palestine Lutheran church.

Those who survive are her widower; two sons, Nyles of Ringsted, and Glen in the navy stationed in New York; two daughters, Selma and Anna May at home; three sisters, Mrs. John Stanerson of Estherville, Mrs. John Melins of Veblen, S. D., and Mrs. Ingvall Side of Colton, S, D.; four brothers, Chris Hanson of Minneapolis, Carl Hanson of Wilmar, Henry Hanson of near Minneapolis and Anders Hanson of Estherville, and one grandson, Galen Heggen. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p. m. from the home and 2 p. m. from the Palestine Lutheran church with the Rev. Raymond Larson officiating.
Burial was at the Palestine cemetery.
