Funeral for Carl Heggen Is Monday

Carl J. Heggen, 74, longtime resident of Emmet County, died yesterday afternoon at Holy Family hospital. Death was attributed to complications following surgery. He had been ill about seven weeks.

Mr. Heggen was born Aug. 10, 1885, in Emmet County, the son of Nels and Anna Heggen. On Oct. 22, 1912 he was married to Serena Hanson at Canton S.D. Mr. Heggen farmed near Dolliver until 1955 when he retired and moved to Estherville.

He was a member of the Palestine Lutheran church until 1955 and since then has been an active member of the Estherville Lutheran church.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Selma Heggen, and Miss Anna Mae Heggen, both of Estherville; two sons, Nyles, of Cylinder and Glen, Dolliver, and six grandchildren.

He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Lodden, Mrs. Andors Hanson, and Mrs. O. J. Matre, all of Estherville, and one brother, Lewis, also of Estherville.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran church, the Rev. T. W. Maakestad officiating. Burial will be at Palestine Lutheran cemetery.
Sundin-Fuhrman Funeral Home has charge of the services.

Pallbearers are Albert Anderson Ceylon; Nils Haugland. Dolliver; John Stanerson, Edward Stanerson, and Oscar Matre, all of Estherville, and Manly Pasiley, St. Paul.
