John Berge, Dolliver, Dies at 87
John N. Berge, 87, Dolliver died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday at Holy Family Hospital from cancer.
Mr. Berge was born April 14, 1880, at Valevagg, Norway to Mr. and Mrs. Nels Berge. He was educated in Norway and married Martha Makebakken at Bremmer Church, Norway, Feb. 2O, 1922.
He came to the United States in 1900 and lived in Ellsworth township until 1913 when he returned to Norway. He returned to the United States in 1924 and made his home in Ellsworth and Lincoln Townships the rest of his life. He was baptized and confirmed in a Lutheran church in Norway and was a member of Palestine Lutheran Church for 67 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Nora) Levell, Dolliver; four grandchildren, Robert, Judy, Peggy, and Mary Levell; two sisters, Mrs. J. A. Roswik, Bismarck, N.D., and Mrs. Gustava Johnson, Bergen, Norway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son, five sisters and one brother.
Family services will be held at Palestine Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with public services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lowell Helstedt officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday and until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
