O.E. Jorstad, 55, Wallingford Merchant, Dies

Heart Attack Fatal at Hospital in Omaha

Otis E. Jorstad, 55, prominent business man at Wallingford, died Tuesday afternoon at a hospital in Omaha, Nebr., where he has been a patient since Feb. 5.

Otis Jorstad, son of B.O. and Belle Jorstad, was born on a farm near Hnmmond, Wis., Feb. 26, 1890, and was educated in the schools at Hammond. As a young man he came to Wallingford where he was a contractor and builder of concrete silos and culverts.

Veteran of World War I

A veteran of World War I, Jorstad was married March 24, 1919, to Miss Rose Knutson. The Jorstads have made their home at Wallingford since their marriage and Mr. Jorstad continued the concrete work until he purchased the L.E. Crim hardware store and later bought the Wallingford garage.

In December, 1943, Mr. Jorstad was seriously injured in an automobile collision in Wisconsin and his health had failed since. Hoping that a warmer climate would benefit him, Mr. and Mrs. Jorstad left Feb. 1 for Tucson, Ariz., but on arriving at Omaha, Mr. Jorstad suffered a heart attack and was taken immediately to a hospital where his condition gradually became worse.

Has One Daughter

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Robert Rekedal; his mother, Mrs. B.O. Jorstad of Hammond; four sisters and one brother living In Wisconsin, and three sisters residing at Wallingford, Mrs. George Gunderson, Mrs. Ole Refseli and Miss Helen Jorstad.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed awaiting word from the mother and relatives living in Wisconsin.
