The funeral service of the late Mrs. Ludvig Larsen of Wallingford, Iowa, who recently passed away, was held Monday afternoon Dec. 17 [1934]. A short service was conducted at the home at 1 p.m. The Rev. Peder Nordsletten was in charge. The service at the Wallingford Lutheran church started at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Nordsletten was ably assisted by the Rev. T. Hanson of Lakefield, Minn., the Rev. S. Strand of Wallingford and the Rev. Stanley Olson of Forest City. The choir sang two songs at the service in the church and also sang at the grave. To various missions and worthy causes $35.00 were given in Mrs. Larsen's memory by relatives and friends.

The following served as pallbearers: L. B. Nelson, Ole Egeland, E. E. Ellefson, Tom Natterstad, L. L. Nelson, and Oscar Peterson.

Out-of-town people present at the funeral services were: Henry Hanken, Austin, Minn., John Hanken, Scotch Grove, Mrs. Max Stadtmueller and Victor Stadtmueller of Fort Dodge, Will Hinrichs of Pomeroy, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Henrichs and son Harold of Newell, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hinrichs of Weir, Mrs. Margaret Hinrichs, Pomeroy, Trgyve Larson of Forest City, the Rev. Stanley Olson of Forest City and Mrs. Lois Marlow of Forest City.

Mrs. Ludvig Larsen, whose maiden name was Engel Lena Hanken, was born near Monticello, Jones County, Iowa on April 11, 1871. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanken, had come from Hannover, Germany a short time before.

Mrs. Larsen was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran church at Monticello.

In 1902, Engel Lena Hanken was united in marriage to Mr. Larsen at Monticello. One week after their wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Larsen left Jones county, Iowa and went to southern Norway. There Mr. Larsen was engaged as a merchant for about 5 years. Then they returned in the summer of 1907 to Jones county. After having lived there through the summer months, Mr. and Mrs. Larsen purchased a farm in Emmet county, near Wallingford, and moved there that fall. On this farm the Larsen familly lived for 26 years. On Dec. 13, 1928, they moved to the town of Wallingford. Exactly 6 years later, on Dec. 13, 1934 Mrs. Larsen died. She was 63 years, 8 months and 2 days old at her death.

Mrs. Larsen is survived by her husband and her 3 children, Hilmer, Johanna and Norman. Two children have already preceded her in death; one girl, Edna Lena, died in infancy and was buried at Monticello, one week after the family returned from Norway. The second child was Learow, who also passed away in infancy. This child died after the family had moved into Emmet county, and is buried in the Wallingford cemetery. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren.

Mrs. Larsen leaves also the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Margaret Henricks of Pomeroy; John Hankens of Scotch Grove; Mrs. Relke Reiken of Prescott, Wis.; Henry Hanken of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Max Stadtmueller of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Nann Hanken of Anamosa, Iowa; Herman Hanken of Monticello, Iowa; and Mrs. Carl Rickels of Scotch Grove, Iowa.
