ESTHERVILLE -- Services for Mrs. James (Edna) Van Valkenburg, 82, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 1985 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Sunday.

Edna Mae Sternborg was born May 30, 1902 near Huntington, the daughter of Fred Sternborg and Eka Sterandborg and attended rural and Estherville schools. On May 31 1924 she was united in marriage with James W. Van Valkenburg at Spirit Lake. She grew up in the Huntington area and lived in Estherville all her married life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons, James F. Van Valkenburg, Denver, Colo. and William O. Van Valkenburg, Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Foster, Mesa, Ariz.; one brother Fred Sternborg, Estherville and one sister, Mrs. John (Ellen) England, Colton, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers and one sister.
