ESTHERVILLE - Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes C. Prust, 88, of Mankato. Minn., formerly of Estherville will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19. 2005 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville, Father Jerry Cosgrove, Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Armstrong. She died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Hill Crest Health Care Center in Mankato, Minn.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Sunday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.
Agnes Catherine Dietrich, the daughter of Anthony and Rose (Schimmer) Dietrich was born July 29, 1917, in Sherburn, Minnesota. She died Thursday, September 15, 2005, at Hill Crest Health Care Center in Mankato, Minnesota, at the age of 88.
She received her education in Sherburn, graduating from Sherburn High School.
In 1940, she was united in marriage to August (Gus) Prust. They farmed by the Sherburn, Dunnell, East Chain, and Gruver areas. They farmed in rural Ringsted from 1951 to 1968, when Gus died. Agnes provided tender loving care for others as a nurses aid at the Good Samaritan Center and Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Dickinson County Hospital in Spirit Lake and Northshire Nursing Home in Spencer. Agnes lived in Estherville until November of 2002, when she moved to Mankato to be closer to her daughter and lived at North Point Assisted Living and later Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Agnes was a person who gave herself to others. She enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, family, friends, sewing and handwork.
Left to cherish Agnes' memory are her daughter, Cathy Garvin of Mankato; grandchildren, Michael Garvin and his wife, Linda of Polk City, Iowa; Steven Garvin of Mankato; Marie Long and her husband, Joseph of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; and James Garvin and his wife, Tricia of Nevada, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Krista, Nicholas, Nathan, Jacob and Orion.
She has been preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Leland Garvin who died in 1975; four brothers, Arthur, Herman, Robert, and Gordon; and three sisters, Helen, Ruth and Mable.
