PIONEER RESIDENT DIED AT WALLINGFORD SATURDAY

Lived on One Farm Fifty-two Years
Funeral Services Tuesday
Large Crown Present

Ole Peterson Bruhjell was born the 3rd day of August, 1837 at Balestrand, Sogn, Norway. Died Saturday August 7th, 1920, eighty-three years and four days old. He came to America with his parents in 1848. They settled in Spring Prairie, Wisconsin where they lived for fifteen years. In the fall of 1861, Mr. Peterson came to Emmet county and settled on a farm near Wallingford. On September 23rd, 1867 he was joined in marriage to Sigre Tollefson. To this union ten children were born, seven boys and three girls. Mr. Peterson lived on the farm near Wallingford for fifty-two years or until 1914, six years ago, when he with his wife and two of the children moved to the town of Wallingford. Four years ago, August 22nd, Mrs. Ole Peterson passed away so he was left a widower for four years.

Those left to mourn the loss of a dear father and brother are: Mrs. Frank Wass, Lake Park, Iowa; Rocelia Peterson,Wallingford; Peter O. Peterson, Alhambra, Canada; Carl, Asher and Oscar Peterson of Wallingford. And also a sister, Mrs. John K. Johnson. Four of the children passed on before their father, three boys and one girl.

Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock and at the church at two o'clock. The church was thronged with friends, relatives and neighbors paying the last tribute to the old pioneer and church member of the Wallingford Lutheran church. Reverend T. Hansen delivered the funeral sermon, assisted by Prof. S. Strand. The choir assisted by Mrs. Barber of Des Moines, sang some beautiful and appropriate songs for the occasion. Mr. Ole Peterson was where he will sleep until Resurrection Morning. God grant when the roll is called up yonder that we all could respond, "I'll be there."
