Ane Marie Christine Petersen was born January 2, 1853 in Draaby Sogn, Denmark. She died at the home of her son, Nels M. Petersen, near Halfa, on Thursday, May 15th, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 14 days. She came to America in 1907 and went directly to Halfa and Seneca to her children with whom she has since lived. She was the widow of Lars Peter Petersen, who died in Denmark in 1894.

Mrs. Petersen leaves to mourn her death six children and eleven grand children. Her children are Carl P. Petersen of Seneca, Nels M. Petersen of Halfa, Christian Petersen of Alberta, Minn., George Petersen of Alberta, Minn., Mr. J. K. Bervin, of Chokio, Minn., John M. Petersen, of Alberta, Minn.

Mrs. Petersen has for several years suffered from kidney trouble but was never severely sick until a few days before her death. Her death was sudden and unexpected. Funera1 services were held Sunday from. the Nels M. Petersen home and St John’s Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Otto Nielsen, and she was buried In St. John’s cemetery. Her son, Chris Petersen of Alberta, Minn., and J. K. Berven of Chokio, Minn. were present at the funeral. The other children from a distance were unable to be present

Jack Creek News--Sad news again reached our community when the death of Mrs. Petersen was reported Thursday. Mrs. Petersen had been making her home with her son Nels and wife for some time. She was sick for only a short time. She was 71 years of age. Funeral were held Sunday at 2 o’clock at her son’s home and the remains laid to rest at the cemetery at Ringsted. The floral wreaths were many and beautiful. Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were her sons George and Chris Petersen and Jake Berven all of Minnesota. Mrs. Jake Berven a daughter was unable to come as a baby came to that home only a few weeks ago. The many friends and neighbors of the family extend their sympathy in their hour of bereavement.
