Mrs. Paulson, 77, Longtime Citizen, Dies
Mrs. Peter (Tillie) Paulson, 76, Ringsted, lifelong resident of Emmet County, died Tuesday [July 11, 1967] at 2:40 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital, her death attributed to a heart ailment.
Tilda Bertine Sorum was born Oct. 4, 1890, in Swan Lake Township, the daughter of Brady and Christina Christopher Sorum, and received her education in the Emmet County public schools.
She was baptized in the christian faith Nov. 6, 1890. On April 15, 1906 she was confirmed by the late Rev. S. Strand at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, south of Gruver, of which she was a member until the time of her death.
Dec. 22, 1908, she was married to Peter G. Paulson at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Paulson moved at that time to their farm in Swan Lake Township and she lived there until the time of her death. She and Mr. Paulson observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1958. Mr. Paulson died in 1962.
Mrs. Paulson served for many years as church pianist, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school classes, held offices in the women's society and in the Lightbearer's Mission Society.
Mrs. Paulson kept a daily diary that dates back to 1918 and persons often came to her for dates and happenings of present and past events.
Mrs. Paulson is survived by three sons, Gunder of Armstrong, Kearney of Estherville and Palmer of Swan Lake Township; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence, Herman and Edwin Sorum, all of Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son and daughter, her parents, and her brother, Ben.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, south of Gruver, Rev. Benjamin Coltvet officiating. Burial will be in High Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eugene, Gary Lee, Arnold, Marlin, Richard and Ernest Paulson.
Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Thursday until Friday forenoon when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
