Frank Matthes, 46, farmer in Swan Lake township passed away yesterday morning [Dec. 7, 1937] at a local hospital where he had been for a short time for treatment of erysipelas and complications. Mr. Matthes was born on June 8, 1886 at Joliet, Ill. He had farmed the same place in this county since 1919. Surviving him are his widow and five children, all at home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at one o'clock from the farm home and at two o'clock from the M. E. church in Estherville with Rev. W. A. Winterstein in charge. Interment will be made in the East Side Cemetery.
