Lewis Edward Berg was born December 31, 1869, at the old Homestead of his parents, Thosten and Turi Berg. Baptized as a child he became a communicant member of the Estherville Lutheran Church by Confirmation in 1886. On January 1st, 1900, he was married to Helen Johnson. They continued to live on the farm he had purchased near Twelve Mile Lake until 1918 when they moved. to Estherville. Mr. Berg has had a weak heart for sometime and has had a couple of very serious attacks within the last months. He died suddenly at his home, 1015 East Main Street, Monday afternoon at four o'clock. Besides his wife he leaves the following children, Arthur of Fairmont, Wallace, Juanita, Marville, Nina and Ruth of Estherville; also the aged mother, Mrs. T. O. Berg, and sister, Serine of Estherville, and a brother, Oscar, of Hampden, N. Dak.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at one-thirty from the house and two o'clock from the Estherville Lutheran Church with Rev. Mathre officiating. The remains will be laid to rest in the Wallingford cemetery. The pallbearers will be Oliver Larson, Joe Orvis, Carl Groth, Ralph McKay, Will Swartz and Goodmand Lee.
