CHESTER V. HEIDKE PASSES AWAY
Well Known Young Man Succumbs to Second Attack of Pneumonia.
Chester Virgil Heidke, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Heidke, was born September 6, 1896, in Esthervllle. Having spent all his life in this city he was well known and had a large circle of friends who will greatly miss him. Chester was a graduate of our local High School, having finished the course in 1916. Since that time he has been employed by the Rock Island railroad as work inspector in the car yards. He had the reputation of being honest in all his business transactions and was an industrious, ambitious young man. Last October he had a very severe attack of pneumonia and had not been in good health since then. He suffered a second attack of this disease January 31, from which he died on February 7, at the age of 23 years, 6 months and 2 days.
Besides his father and mother he has two sisters and two brothers who will mourn his death. To these we extend our heartfelt sympathy in their sorrow.
The funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The floral offerings were many and beautiful — tokens of deep sympathy felt for this worthy family by the people of the community. A number of friends from out of town were present for the funeral. The services were conducted by Rev. Voorhies of the Presbyterian church and burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
Those from out of town who were here to attend the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Bashford of Waterloo, Mrs. Stevens of Des Moines, Mrs. Clottier of Olin, Iowa, and J. G. Heidke of Columbus, Wisconsin, and H. L. Heidke of Chicago; uncles and aunts of the deceased.
