ESTHERVILLE - Services for Roy K. Enerson, 80, of Estherville will be held Tuesday, October 18 at 11 a.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Military graveside services by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville will be held at East Side Cemetery. He died Saturday, October 15 [1994] at the Good Samaritan Center.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., today, Monday, October 17 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
He was born September 23, 1914 in Morris, Ill., the son of Emely Joseph and Emma C. (Thorson) Enerson. He moved to a farm near Dolliver with his parents in 1917 and moved again in 1929 to a farm near Estherville. He received his education in the rural Emmet County schools. He farmed until March of 1942, when he was called to serve during World War II in Africa, Corsica and Sicily. He broke his leg in September of 1944 and was discharged in 1945.
He married Irene C. Campney on February 17,1945 in Ruthven. After his marriage, the couple farmed in Center Township until his health failed. He became a resident at Good Samaritan Center in April of 1993.
He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and the VFW Post 3388. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, cribbage and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Leland (Ruby) Harris of Estherville; Mrs. James Lee (Janet) McGregor of Estherville; Mrs. John (Doris) Rumpp of Urbandale; Mrs. Robert (Edna) Meyer of Lake City; Mrs. Marcus (Mary) Carris of Storm Lake; one son Arvin of Estherville; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Arnold (Lillian) Dahl of Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald, one great-granddaughter and one brother.
