Mrs. Ellen Elias

Mrs. Ellen Elias was born at Ingerstad, Sweden, June 6, 1846, and died at Estherville, Iowa, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Archibald, Friday, January 21, 1921, at the age of 74 years. She married Nels Elias in her native land in 1868, and soon after came to America, in 1872. They settled at Mason City, but later moved to Forest City and then to Fairmont, Minn. Here they resided for two years until their removal to Estherville, where she had her home continuously for thirty-three years.

Ten children were born to this union, seven sons and three daughters, two sons dying in infancy. Ed, the oldest passed away December 25, 1910, George, December 26, 1913, and also Charles, December 20, 1914. Those surviving are Mrs. T. H. Nelson of Zion City, Ill., Mrs. Chas. Archibald of Estherville; Mrs. Ira Adams of Columbia, Mo.; John of Casper, Wyo., and Henry Elias of San Diego, Cal.

Mr. Elias passed away April 17, 1917. All the children were here to see their mother during her illness except the one living in California, and distance made this impossible.

Mrs. Elias was a member of the Baptist church. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 23, at the Baptist church, and burial was made in the East Side cemetery. Services were in charge of the Rev. J. Arthur Hurley, with Rev. J. W. LaGrone of the Methodist church assisting.
