I think I have some info for you:

obit on Mrs Sarah Clark Carroll - Telegraph Herald 2-9-1926
Died this morning, age 82. Resident of Dubuque all her life. Funeral from the home of her son, John F. Carroll to St. Anthony's Church and burial in Mt Olivet. Born in Dubuque in 1844 and was the daughter of Patrick and Mary Powers Clark. Married in 1870 to John H. Carroll. Besides her son, she is survived by 2 sisters - Mrs Margaret Boland of Rapid City, SD and MrsTheresa Carroll, Chicago.

Obit on Sarah A Powers (Mrs Lawrence) - Dubuque Herald Aug. 18, 1863.
Wife of Lawrence Powers and daughter of Patrick and Sarah Connolly. Native of Queens Cty, Ireland, age 36. Died at Table Mound Township.

Marriages Dubuque Cty. Both these marriages took place at the Cathedral -

Richard Powers to Catherine Malony on July 10, 1853
Mary Farrell to William Powers Nov. 19, 1855.

Hope something clicks! I might have more on Patrick & his wife. I would have to check.
