In Response To: Civil War. (David Faith)

My husband's great great grandfather Ernst Amberg served the first three
months of the war and then his son served the remainder. Fortunately gg
Ernst's grave stone showed that he was in Co. "H" which gave me a starting
place. You should be able to find some information on the internet. I also
sent a form to Wash. D.C. which I got off the internet and they mailed me
copies of quite a bit of info. For one of my searches I typed in Civil War
Soldiers & Sailors System Search detail. Hope this helps. You might get some
better suggestions from others. Everything I have only has names beginning
with the letter "A" since I was just searching Amberg. A few years ago we
were at the Allen Library in Ft. Wayne IN and my husband found quite a bit
in a book. If you know anyone that would be visiting that library, maybe
they would do some lookups for you. It is the second largest genealogy
library with Salt Lake City as the largest. We visit there quite often but
not recently.

Type in "Dubuque Iowa Civil War Soldiers" and see what you get.
