In Response To: LINEHAN families in Dubuque IA (Ellen Elliott)

I am also interested in ties to the Linehans of Dubuque. My ancestor, Daniel Mahony (or Mahoney) of Vernon Twp, Dubuque County lived with Bartholemew (age 66) and Mary (age 59) Linehan in 1860 (see census for Prairie Creek Twp). Family tradition has it that Daniel and J. J. Linehan were "cousins". J. J. Linehan (who served in the 1880s as Mayor of Dubuque) was a son of Edmund and Mary (Donovan) Linehan, who were also the parents of Bart E. (of Hansen & Linehan), Dennis W., the two Linehan R.C. bishops (Matthias and Thomas), Mary (later Mary Molo) and Michael. I am interested in any aspect of this Linehan family, particularly the connection, if any, between Bartholemew and Edmund Linehan and between any of these Linehans and the Mahonys (Daniel Mahony of Vernon Twp. was a son of Daniel and Catherine (Lane) Mahony of Donoughmore, Co. Cork, Ireland who emigrated about 1852/3 to New Orleans). Also, did Bart Linehan of Hansen and Linehan have a family?
