David, did you know that Friedheim in Adams County Indiana and its sister congregation in Schumm Ohio used circuit riders such as Jesse Hoover (d. about 1837) to bring the Evangelische faith to what was then the West? Jesse Hoover's records are at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1842 or thereabouts the Reverend Friedrich Wyneken and his bride Sophie Buuck (origins Grossenheerse, Buchholz, Westfalen)returned to Germany to raise funds for mission efforts in America. You might work backward to their efforts on that trip.
