Leona G. (Trute) Ricken, 95, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 790 Cottage Place, died at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bellevue, Iowa. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

She was born on March 20, 1908, in Bellevue, daughter of Frank and Mary (Leitz) Trute.

She married Anton "Tony" Ricken on Jan. 26, 1937, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston, Iowa; he died on Jan. 7, 1974. Leona and Tony farmed with horses for many years in Iowa and Illinois until 1962, when they moved to Dubuque. Leona then worked at Mercy Health Center, St. Joseph's Unit in Dubuque for several years.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish.

Surviving are a niece, Karen (Trute) Chesterman, of Dubuque; a nephew, Bill (Janeane) Trute, of Walkertown, N.C.; two great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Wilfred Trute, on Jan. 6, 1991.

Sincere appreciation is extended to the nurses and staff of Stonehill Care Center, 2N, for their loving care of Leona the last five years.
